I plugged it back in the next morning to try to reinstall the games and it just said "discovering drive" the whole time. I unplugged it and went to sleep. All of the files were deleted, but it didn't really matter. About an hour later I plugged it back in and it said I had to reformat the drive and I did. Then reconnect it and in Windows, go to Device Management and look if your drive there. It could also be that the partition(s) have occurred an error, the file system is corrupted or even that the USB connectors need to be cleaned of dust.I would suggest you actually first clean the USB connectors. Is there anything I can do? Any help would be appreciated. It's possible that you've received a bad hard drive. I saw in some forum that I should reformat the drive, but I don't know how to now because the first time the window just popped up. I tried to uninstall the drivers in device manager, but that didn't work either. The sims 4 free trial for macThe obvious solution would be to format the drive in something that can read and write on both OS, which is the FAT32 file system. Since you're using two different OS on one machine and the file systems for OS X and Windows with both read and write processes are different, that's probably why you received those messages.Windows best choice now is NTFS, and OS X uses HFS+. Then you need to initialize it, create a partition (or more than one) and format it (them). The format itself is the tricky part. In OS X this is done through Usually the Disk Utility:Choose "Erase" from above (here it erases all of the information you have on the drive)Select "MS DOS (FAT)" which is FAT32 in the Volume FormatPress "Erase" down to the right and in the new window confirm it againFinally, after all is done, I would advise you to check your HDD's health just in case. Otherwise you'll have to reformat every time you switch between both OS and that loses the data on the disk.Like I've mentioned above, in Windows you can partition and format your drive from Disk Management. That makes storing a 7GB movie impossible.FAT32 drives are more susceptible to disk errors.Your other option would be to format the hard drive for either Mac or Windows.
